Public Works We bid this $1.7 million public works project in 1999 and completed it in 2001. It houses the county's public works division offices, as well as its concrete- and asphalt-testing laboratories. The building was originally designed with a "U" footprint, which has since been extended to fully enclose a xeriscaped courtyard open to the windowed offices. At 16,000 square-feet, the building follows a metal stud construction with interior masonry accents. The exterior façade of split-faced and scored masonry walls at the entry complements the facility's parking and native landscaping.
